Game Designer: Open World Events - Rockstar Games San Diego June 2020 - Present

New Entry in the Grand Theft Auto series

  • Designed and produced open world encounters for the player to discover organically and revisit

  • Collaborated across teams in many different disciplines to ensure content is developed efficiently and shows on screen as much as possible

  • Designed NPC behavioral responses to the player based on the context of the interaction

  • Created project templates that standardized the process of starting a new event allowing designers to have a working event in minutes instead of hours

  • Designed and implemented new components to manage shared behavior between events

  • Refactored existing components into a new script framework

  • Assisted with onboarding of new team members by setting up lines of communication to encourage team building and reduce work from home strain

Gameplay Programmer/Developer - Games for Entertainment and Learning Lab - MSU March 2019 – May 2020

Plunder Panic – Released on Steam, September 2021

  • Designed and developed a dual-utility AI system for computer-controlled players along with action system that allows for easy modification

  • Utilized a modified A* pathing algorithm for AI movement system

  • Redesigned an existing menu system and character select to improve user experience

  • Created and implemented a generic audio manager system reused in other GEL projects

Whipslash

  • Lead team of ten students as producer and lead programmer over a semester

  • Implemented enemy AI based on kung-fu circle and adapted to a VR environment

  • Developed base mechanics including all axe interaction and enemy ragdoll system

Brain Powered Games Africa

  • Designed and developed a generic data collection and saving system used for aggregating data and event tracking, which is currently used across multiple research studies

  • Rebuilt the original suit of games and began development on new Village Builder game

  • Traveled to Uganda to playtest Brain Powered Games and help oversee training of local researchers
